What can I expect?
Experience Grace Pervades, David Hare’s luminous new play, as it makes its West End premier at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in spring 2026.
Led by award-winning actor Ralph Fiennes as Henry Irving, and the incomparable Miranda Raison as Ellen Terry, this sweeping drama brings to life the golden age of Victorian theatre and the complex, passionate relationship between two titans of the stage.
Across twenty-five vivid scenes spanning the late 19th century through to the mid-20th, Grace Pervades explores art, fame, ambition and the heart behind performance. As Irving strives to elevate the art of theatre, Terry balances public adoration with personal longing, while their children—Edith Craig and Edward Gordon Craig—forge their own, less-seen impact on the world of theatre.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin and decorated with exquisite designs by Bob Crowley (set), Fotini Dimou (costumes), Peter Mumford (lighting) and a stirring score by Paul Englishby, the production is a feast for senses and emotions.
This is more than a play — it’s a tribute to legacy, creativity, and what it means to live for the stage.
Whether you love theatre history, powerful performances, or stories about love and ambition, Grace Pervades promises an unforgettable evening.
